Thank you for your suggestion. I decided to email my broker. I decided to share their answer with the board since you mentioned that the question has been asked before. This may help answer the questions of others.

"The hashtag (#) is an indicator that the security is undergoing a reorganization. Such corporate actions can include name changes, symbol changes, mergers and forward or reverse splits.

GEI Global Energy (GEIG) is currently completing a 2500-for-1 reverse stock split. Once the stock split has been completed, we will deposit the new shares into your account. The new shares will be under symbol GEIGD.

We will post the new shares to your account once payment has been received from the depository or agent.
