Fortune magazine’s second annual list of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders is turning a lot of heads, and no doubt causing more than a few frowns, in the halls of political power. The reason for sharply raised eyebrows is not so much who made the leadership roster, but rather who didn’t.

In releasing its top-50, Fortune explained, “We set out to find singular leaders with vision who moved others to act as well, and who brought their followers with them on a shared quest. We looked for effectiveness and commitment and for the courage to pioneer.”

So one might think that the woman many consider to be America’s most powerful female politician — the former first lady and secretary of state who has her sights set on becoming president — would certainly make the cut, right?

Well, sorry, Hillary. There’s not a Clinton, male or female, to be found among the Fortune list of leaders who make up the 50 best on the planet.

Who else is missing? Dare you guess Barack Obama, generally considered to be the leader of the free world and a leader many raised up as a transformative figure for the ages? Believe it or not, Obama didn’t have the good fortune to be included on the Fortune list either. Nor did Michelle.
