In 1998 I read an article in I think USAA Investment magazine "26 square miles of gold". Told story of Reid brothers selling last 2 profitable mines of 5 previous they'd built to take on as US Gold large area of Nevada Elephant Country Eureka Trend Tonkin Springs. Hadn't proven yet a winner due to bacterial leach process with bad sulfides to process. I got to know the CFO, Bill Pass, of the 3 man office and we chatted long hours. Taught me how to select a good explorer prospect which led to being biggest shareholder in Gold Resources Corp financing design he'd developed himself with Bill Reid the CEO. During the life of Tonkin Springs it survived terrible late 90's circumstances due to 5 seperate JV's with larger miners who gave up and returned the entire $35 million built complex due to ironclad contracts Pass had written up. Hard to imagine but true. Biil P was not a lawyer but had been a Union Oil Land Contract Man and taught me to "Never throw anything away, just add the new stuff on the bottom". Was for sure tough titty for Orex in '99 to hand all $35 million buit there back but contract called for that for non-performance. Last JV was with BacTech in 2005 and they failed as well. The day it came back 5th time Rob McEwen offered to tske it all and freed Reids to build Gold Resource in Oaxaca and made me and many others wealthy. Paul has yet to enforce the one Mexus JV contract at San Felix and yet to sign a single JV at Santa Elena. Could be several more but write it properly and take it back worth ever more. I learned from an expert and tongue twisting nothing babblers have yet to even check out the text book. 8
