Rather than leave it to the parties to decide how royalties would be calculated, the IEEE endorses a calculation based on the value of the chip inside the device,

Insanity. Then that chip should be valued at a whole lot more. The chip price is set by the buyer and seller using a materials and labor calculation at it’s basic form, but did they figure in the IP they would later owe and build that cost in? Of course not.

This move by the IEEE is the shadiest thing. Why didn’t they just kick interdigital and qualcomm out?

Like i said before, the inventor side has never been able to change the language or top end sound-bite to his benefit. “Stifling innovation” and “patent troll” is still highly effective.

Anyone remember “hands up, don’t shoot”? Now there’s a sound bite that changed a lot of people’s view points in a hurry, whether it was true or not.
