i just watched it and, while reading your notes, i compared them to mine, since finally, you posted before me. 
Lets start out with Aretha Franklin. She opened the show but sadly, she, as others down the road, did show her age in her voice, cracked at the beginning and was ok, but ended nicely. sadly, she looked like she borrowed a hobo's clothes. just being honest.
no one dresses up anymore, its just odd to me.
yes, as you said, i was not thrilled that 8 of the 12 guys (as im sure girls, tomorrow) were chosen AS they get to sing for their life.
here is who sang and the 8 to go through..
1- daniel- rough and too low for him for his young age. but he is so darn cute! judges echoed on what i noted.
2- mark- love him, but tonight i didnt like it and he smiled way too much for the "hard life" song, that he was singing about. and the band played it way upbeat for that song. but good. i didnt hear him being flat like you did, but maybe it was so fast, i didnt catch that.
3- rayvon, very good (same as you said). he looked relaxed too. he reminds me so much of the host of "funniest animals" so this was the best pics i could find to compare them.(see more comments about the show, below this pic)
4- adam- way over the top, not very good, but you liked him. judges loved him, and he at least dressed up, (unlike some of them)
5- clark- very good! still wish he and the girls, would stop trying to sound like adell (not sure how to spell that). he was flat here and there but yet still very good somehow. great stage performance too.
6- nick- still too mousy for me. and "fast forwardy" if I may "coin" the word. you said it was "rushed' and i agree. but good job over all.
7- qaasim- if you close your eyes, and do NOT look at his great and silly moves on stage, it was NOT good. JayLo agreed but the other judges gently shot her down.
8- Quenten- last of the 8 to go through to be judged tonight. i love the original song and it fits his style, but he was just good, not great. again, avoid the hype and the audience screaming, and just listen to the voice. also, i hated the droopy pants. that is a pet peeve with me. (and anyone i know)
