Raider,

"If in fact this particular ship was carrying this huge amount of silver coinage and the site #3 is in fact this particular shipwreck, silver coins should be scattered far and wide. Like spill out from broken salt and pepper shakers. Up to this winter, have the SFRX divers found any coins? Did the Heartland group (past) ever find any verifiable coins?"

Of course it is too early to know if it is this ship or not. We won't know until they unbury a lot more of the ship and start finding the cargo that is on this ship. then we will know if it is this one or a different one. However, to answer some of what you wrote.

Many times a ship breaks up, but it breaks into chunks, not individual granules, like the salt reference you mention. the Atocha was that way. There were some scattered artifacts and coins yes, but the majority were all in two spots, all together, and when they started finding those spots, they were bringing up handfuls at a time. Why? Because they were still together. that being said, yes coins have been found in the area, and they have been pre 1715. We don't know if SFRX has found any this year or not, since they have not said anything about their diving results. But we know coins of this age were found on the beach, and that is one of the reasons this area was chosen for a search many years ago.

I believe (Hence, opinion, not fact. Don't ask for verifiable proof of an opinion) that the main group of coins are still in the chests. the chests may or may not exist any more, depending on where they lie, but the planks they have found so far were well preserved. I think most coins are still under the deck, in the hold, wherever that is laying. Once they open that up, which may mean going through planks and may just be pieces of wood, I think the coins will be buried and together, in clumps. Maybe even stuck together in literal clumps, as some others have been found. But they are not scattered like salt, since they were concealed in tight containers that were in the ship and those wrappings, for lack of a better word, were not taken off when the ship sank. Maybe rotted over the years, but that was after already buried and the coins still did not move as much as you think. if they were loose change, or in somebody's pocket or locker, those may be he coins found on the beach, as they were loose and could move along. Not the main amount of coins from the chests though.

So not finding coins so far is in no way indicative of not ever finding the coins. It is simply a fact that they have not found the right area of the wreck "yet". (Or have not dug into it well enough yet to reach the coins) They won't find the coins until ... they find the coins. Yep, redundant, but truthful too. I believe they HAVE found the wreck already, based on the fact their boats stopped searching back and forth and back and forth and started focusing on two areas real close to each other. that was a while ago. then they had a hard time diving, which sucks, but that has stopped them from doing more work on that specific site. I believe they are pushing that specific site and shall concentrate on that site again when they get into the water, and I believe they will find some exciting things when they explore that site more. When? Don't know. What? Don't know. Is it the Concepcion? Don't know! But indications (Not proof) are that a wreck IS there, and chances are good it IS the Concepcion. Just chances right now, not proof. But yes, they have found "something." Now they need time to explore that something and see what it truly is. And good weather. smile

Oh, one other belief. I believe that if they Do find the coins and the chests, and announce the find, the stock will GAP and FLY and those sitting out will NOT be able to buy in except at a MUCH higher price, which is why I have said I think at these levels the risk is higher being OUT of the stock and waiting then IN the stock and hoping. Just too small of a company, too big of an announcement, and too many would want to buy at the low end. I've said it before. When they were on site #1, I was watching from the sidelines. I waited, and if they struck anything, I would be one of the masses trying to buy in on the news, before others bought in, to make a profit. I sat on the sidelines on site #2, and watched. I owned other companies in this field, and funded one privately, but didn't buy any SFRX yet. I waited for the news of a discovery. One that never came. then they received the deal on site #3. And I am not waiting for news of the discovery, because I finally believe it IS there, it IS going to be found, and I don't want to wait until it is too late to get in. As such< I bought higher, and am down. But I am super bullish on the stock, and feel I'd rather be in and wait than out and wait too long. that's how bullish "I" am that site #3 IS the Concepcion. MY opinion. smile
