No in a financial statement the common stock is never reported as a asset.

Plus if you read the Haltain management information circular - you will see that in the other 3 acquisitions they state they will be purchasing the outstanding shares.
For AEGY it states the assets.

If you have a example of where a company has listed their common stock as a asset - please post it because I haven't seen it done before.

TenKay knows much more about accounting and financial statements than I do so maybe he will comment on your post.

But interesting question.
