You left out a word. The PR says "will immediately resign".
"Resign" is the verb in that sentence and "immediately" an adverb describing "resign".
This is not a difficult sentence to parse. The clause following "as" is nothing more than the reason for the "immediate" resignation.
They have resigned. FITX is less than worthless. Seriously, it's not a confusing sentence. It's one of the plainer Billisms floating out there in the ether. It's common English.
