Our hunt started on Monday. The deer population was hit hard last winter and while I've seen some in the fields, it isn't anything like the past 5 years. I started winding down the hunt on the farm and except for a few close friends that stay for a few days, it's quiet. I'm getting to old and grumpy for all the work that goes into the hunt the way it was.
This morning, I drove my daughter to the airport. She's moving to British Columbia to be with her boyfriend. He's in the air force and posted to the Comox base. With her gone, I now have a condo to sell and a spare car in the drive. Next summer I'll drive it out to her.
My wife's still house shopping when time permits and I'm going to be listing the farm in the new year. It looks like she's ready to retire, but not to here (farm) as originally planned. I'm starting to think she wants to open a B+B when she packs the city in.
God Help me.
