But if, as some argue, Wave's previous products were clunky, or as others argue, they were not scaleable, then basically, you cannot know. The demand for a solution may be present but the product development was poor and Wave's product was undesirable.

Instead, you have to say - let's see what happens when a different, seemingly competent person creates a product and offers it for sale. Then we will find out if the issue is one of demand or merely the product. Because the likelihood is, you are not going to see two managers in a row be stinkers as product developers.

If Solms fails to sell Wave's product, my conclusion will be that it was a demand issue. That it doesn't matter who was managing Wave, no one was interested in a TPM-based product from Wave however desirable some have thought it was.

One thing you can't do is say "it is a demand issue" if you think the product sucks. You'll never know if there were potential buyers out there for a well-designed product in this category.

So far, it isn't looking terribly positive on the demand side. There's curiosity but few crystallised orders. But it is too soon to write VSC off. One order can change the way Wave is seen by other customers.
