I sincerely hope we're not seeing a repeat of what the FDA put Medizone through in the '80s.

They repeatedly misplaced files. Every time they changed personnel, it set them back six months and it happened several times. Criteria changed midway through some tests. Months would go by with no communication.

When Medizone first went into business, several practitioners opened clinics providing Medizone's treatment for various ailments, including some of the early AIDS patients. They drew blood from a patient, treated it with their ozone infusion process and reinjected the blood back into the patient. They assumed they did not need FDA approval because they simply reinjected the patient with his own blood. They reported great success. The FDA quickly classified the treatment as a drug and shut the clinics down.

Many people warned Medizone not to try and go the FDA route and concentrate on foreign markets where they has a reasonable chance of success. However, with the AIDS epidemic full blown and in the news every day, the FDA announced fast track status for any potential AIDS cure or treatment. When the fast track status was announced, Medizone stock shot up to over $2. and Medizone plunged ahead with the FDA. As time went by with nothing happening the stock quickly sank back into penny land where it still is today.

I learned later on from an insider that the FDA and much of the medical community at the time looked upon ozone and anything related to it medically with suspicion and wrote it off as quackery. There were a lot of quack ozone practitioners at the time. Medizone just got lumped in with them and were simply spun out of money. This is not the only reason Medizone failed in the '80s but it was a major contributing factor.

There are a lot of similarities with what's going on now with what happened then.

I sure hope it's all just coincidence.
