On tonight's ABC Nightly News, They said there is a nationwide epidemic of drivers falling asleep at the wheel. They showed a video of somebody nodding off for 2 seconds and running into the back of a car. They said that the National Traffic Safety Board says we need to wake up to drowsy driving dangers. 40% of drivers admit to falling asleep at the wheel. They said that losing just 2 hours of sleep a night could cut your decision making from 20-50%. They said that all that adds up to one of the most under reported problems on the road. 1 out of every 5 accidents involves a tired driver. At Virginia Tech’s test track, researchers are assessing drivers for alertness and signs of fatigue. They’re using cameras to watch for signs of fatigue or nodding off. They ended by saying the best advice is to stay out of your car if you haven’t had enough sleep.

There's been a lot of talk lately about driving drowsy. It won't be long before somebody invents something to solve this problem so if Torvec drags their feet on this one, we can all expect to each get a lovely "bangle bracelet" as a grab bag gift at the next annual.
Also, on the other hand, if we don't start hearing some positive news before the next meeting, we may need one of those bracelets to keep those who attend, awake.
