That has always been a risk - speaking from a corporate perspective rather than a humanitarian perspective.

However, the epidemic is nowhere near under control in Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone at present and will be hard pressed to be brought under control before the new year at best.

Could the money and fire behind getting effective Ebola treatments fade over the next few months? Sure - but it will depend on how well that the continuing problem is handled in these 3 countries and whether spread can continue to be halted.

One good result from what has been seen in Nigeria and in Senegal is that the reinforcement that effective Public Health responses can effectively halt the virus given enough time and enough focused attention.

One of the reasons why Ebola is never going to be a widespread problem here in the USA or in most of Europe is that we do have the health infrastructure to bring to bear on it. Despite the CDC's really crappy initial response to the few cases here - our infrastructure can handle an outbreak well enough to quickly limit it's spread.
