The products are so mature now that they are rotting. No one wants them, and kay has a long and verifiable track record of mis-reading the market. Spinning off the subsidiaries is not a panacea, it is a band aid on a sucking chest wound. No amount of rearranging the deck chairs on this sinking ship will motivate a completely dismissive market to buy this crud.
Advertisers with large budgets buy through an intermediary ad space for incredibly cheap rates on outlets with little visibility. They are flinging poop at the wall in the hopes that something will stick, exactly like kay and ecdc. The intermediary keeps most of the cash and kay and vir2no get fractions of pennies. The only positive effect of this is to fool the uninitiated into thinking that something real is happening. It most decidedly is not. This is not an expression of malignancy, but a statement of the facts as they are, and is verifiable for those who care to look.
We do NOT know this. We do know that this has not happened yet in the sorry history of this company. We do know that hope springs eternal, but rarely comes to fruition, especially given the history and character of this company and kay.
No one can seriously deny that advertisers have access, nor can anyone seriously assert that advertisers are actually interested in that access. The evidence to date is unarguably that of dismal failure across the board, the assumption that this will change is evidence that individual's internal narratives will somehow, and inexplicably, affect the real world. It is not impossible that ecdc will somehow succeed, it is only improbable given the mountain evidence mitigating against success.
This has been explained above, what would be more interesting is actual and verifiable numbers of the realized revenue. To date there has been a grand total of $0.00 in reported advertising revenue.
Given what we have seen so far, that inspires more despair than hope.
