Ethyl alcohol, for truly medicinal purposes such as use as an antiseptic, should be at least 70% or 140 proof. So, for that purpose, one should stock either Ronrico or Bacardi Rum in the 151 proof variety. Not only can it be used as an antiseptic, but it is more efficient in producing the desired effect when used in beverages. I don't believe any commercially available whiskey comes in 150 proof strength, at least not that is available in the USA. You used to be able to purchase 95% ethyl alcohol in Pennsylvania state liquor stores. Only absolute alcohol is 100% ethyl alcohol, and must be dehydrated to become that, since "pure" ethyl alcohol usually contains 5% water.
