Paid to do nothing.... is also following orders. Sometimes adults don't want to own their decisions. And to boot, it is an ongoing decision to hold those shares. We all own our decisions, and think it will turn out better if we hold. So who holds their shares if they are scammed? Someone that thinks others will be willing to be scammed, when they sell their shares? Can you complain about being scammed, when you intend to scam someone else?

Holding shares means you know you have not been scammed, or that you know the scam hasn't run its course and you will eventually cheat someone out of their money. So it becomes a lie to call it a scam, or it is hypocritical. If you think this is a scam, selling your shares now, becomes the only ethical thing to do. Hold those shares to become the scammer.
