A lot of guys used the "RGI" phrase in board banter, in a tongue in cheek sort of way, especially when the times were better.
Later it was used in a sort of dark "gallows" humor, or as sarcasm, not unlike the "abuse of phrase" it's undergoing right now.
To get back to your original question, I don't think so. It just isn't my style. I came up with a few phrases and "isms" of my own over the trading life of SGCP, but that wasn't one of them.
The phrase appears to have originated in 2010. A board search revealed:
