sounds like there isnt a spider on earth that can spin its own web without violating kblb's patents...lol
i aint buying it..

Not KBLB's patents, UW's patents, based upon the original work of Randy Lewis.
And I do not know how strong these patents are.
It has always seemed to me that a patent on a discovery of some thing that always existed in the natural world could not be as strong as one on the invention of something completely novel.
But the point is that KBLB's security is not based upon only one thing but upon several layers all of which would have to be overcome for their product to be legally copied by some other party.
ie. said competitor would need to fight to overturn the UW patents,
AND the tools licenses and their owner's patents.
AND KBLB/UND's patent,
AND a few trade secrets such as Javis's synthetic connective sequence,
AND KBLB's years of lab and farm and testing experience, etc.

The number of brick walls in their road makes it much less likely that anyone will really try.
