CRIMINAL ALIEN WANTED FOR CAPITAL MURDER CAUGHT CROSSING ILLEGALLY

MCALLEN, Texas – Border patrol agents arrested a suspect in a 10-year-old capital murder case and a separate attempted murder case moments after he and a group of illegal immigrants entered the country near Rio Grande City Texas.

On Monday morning, 32-year-old Jose Antonio “Tono” Vera Jaimes went before a justice of the peace in Hidalgo County who formally charged him with one count of capital murder and one count of attempted capital murder setting his bond at $1.5 million.

Court documents obtained by Breitbart Texas reveal that Vera is a suspect in the October 2, 2005 execution of Carlos Jesus “El Conejo” Flores Alamira, in the rural town of McCook after a ransom was not paid. Investigators said that Flores died from a single 9mm gunshot wound to the head.

Just months later in January 5, 2006, authorities believe that Vera took part in the kidnapping and attempted murder of Silvestre Vivar Ramos who was shot in the face and left for dead but managed to survive. During a follow up interview with investigators, Vivar identified his kidnappers and claimed that they would kill him like they did to “El Conejo” if the ransom wasn’t paid. Day’s later authorities caught one of the gunmen who admitted his role and identified Vera Jaimes.

While court records only mention a ransom as the motive, the rural areas of Hidalgo County have been used by drug smugglers as stash houses and have led to a series of home invasions and kidnappings over stolen drugs.

Vera is the most recent illegal alien to be arrested by authorities in the wake of a border crisis experienced in South Texas. Earlier this month, two criminal aliens tried to rob at gunpoint a border patrol agent who was fishing with his family in nearby Willacy County which is adjacent to the border counties of Cameron and Hidalgo. Border Patrol agent Javier Vega fought off the robbers but was mortally wounded in front of his wife, father, mother and sons.
