IBill

I should correct the numbers in my post to you .
About 1 in 2,000 have homo FH ....high rate of heart attacks in their 40's
About 1 in 350 have hetero FH ...high rate of heart attacks in their 60's
So it may not be " 100,000 face risk of heart attack each year " in this patient group

The best add on drug these patients can take IMHO is Vascepa ....for the reasons BioChia and Zuman have explained ....Vascepa reduces plaque rupture .

I had a cardiac cath to determine the plaque build up in my coronary arteries years ago in a CV trial ( 20% build up in some areas ) and was put on max dose Statins as a "lab rat " for a year before they were FDA approved ...the idea being that the Statin would reduce the amount of small LDL particles circulating in my coronary arteries ...less small LDL particles ...less plaques .

I take 4 gms of V daily to reduce my risk of the known plaques from rupturing .....all FH patients IMHO should do like wise
