Steve Jobs worked at a Radio Shack! NUFF SAID! Apple could buy RSH and the Apple Shack IS BORN; more than just a crazy notion. IN MY OPINION.

"Steve Jobs Takes Gig At Local Radio Shack

Steve steps outside for a breather after a particularly long 10-hour shift.
PALO ALTO, Calif. (CAP) - Less than two weeks after stepping down as CEO of the company he founded, former Apple chief Steve Jobs has taken part-time employment at the local Radio Shack electronics outlet. Store officials say they couldn't be more pleased with how well their new employee is working out so far.

"You know, it's quite the learning curve here, but Steve seemed to pick it up pretty quickly for an old guy," said 23-year-old manager Will Burnett. "All his references checked out fine, although this Tim guy seemed a bit put out when we asked him if he felt Steve could handle the extra pressure of a retail job. We get pretty busy around the holidays."

Burnett said the only issue he foresees is the dress code, because Jobs has been "silently adamant" about not wearing a tie. The employees with whom CAP News spoke didn't seem to mind having a pseudo-celebrity in their midst as long as he "carries his weight but doesn't throw it around."

"That dude is seriously awesome," said sales associate Bryan Pole. "Some guy came in looking for F Connectors or something, and Steve knew exactly where they were - on his first day. I didn't even know what the guy was talking about. I thought he was, like, swearing at us or something."

"Yeah, the shelves behind the checkout counter are such a mess, but Steve totally cleaned and organized them without even being asked," added coworker Seth Hines. "The way he's going, he'll be doing display cases in no time."

Burnett said it's too early to tell just what Jobs' presence will mean for the overall sales of that particular store, but noted that the morale boost he provides to employees is priceless. "Plus he helped me unlock the sim card on my iPhone," said Burnett. "Although I don't think I was supposed to tell anyone."

CAP News caught up with the ex-Apple CEO as he ran next door to Quizno's to grab a bite to eat during his break. He told us that between his brief stint earlier this year living his life like a regular person and quickly learning that "retirement isn't all it's cracked up to be," taking the job at Radio Shack was a no-brainer.

"Oh my God, my wife was driving me up a tree, and I was only retired for what, a week?" Jobs said after ordering a Cabo Chicken Sub to go. "I originally thought about getting a job at Egghead Software, but I guess they went out of business some years ago.

"What about Circuit City, are they still around?" Jobs asked. When we explained they've been online only since 2009, he nodded and said, "That seems to be the trend these days, doesn't it. I think Apple got on board just in time."

Jobs said he isn't sure just how long he'll keep his new part-time job, but he really likes it and enjoys being involved in a company with such a long and storied history. "I believe Radio Shack's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it," he said as we left the sub shop.

And while he said the job is rewarding in and of itself, he is anxious for his three-month review because after that he'll be eligible for the 15% employee discount. "And believe you me," he said, "that'll really come in handy this Christmas."
