That doesn't make sense, since the board has been filled for months with accusations of tortious interference. Obviously that accusation came straight from MW/RW. So why were they making the accusation if they didn't yet have the proof?

Its quite clearly for the same reason they are making the accusation now without proof. Its a terrific way to garner sympathy for themselves and convince major shareholders to dig into their pockets and help pay the attorneys. I'm sorry, but it is no more complicated than that. The guilty always try to convince others that they are the victims and not the perps. Especially when pocketfuls of loot are at stake.
