Is Apple losing to Samsung or other way around?

"Index heavyweight Samsung Electronics tanked over 2 percent after reporting a 25 percent fall in earnings during the second quarter from the year before."

"Samsung Electronics (005930.SE -2.58%) is poised to report its third consecutive decline in operating profit Thursday, hit by a pile of unsold smartphones in markets like China and Europe.

Second-quarter market share data from IDC this week showed that among the top five vendors, only Samsung saw its smartphone shipments decrease from the year-ago period, squeezed by Apple’s iPhones in the high-end and cheaper phone makers."
