SC drug delivery at home vs hospital setting.

Something that I have never seen before in comparing the advantages of home SC vs hospital setting. This applies to any drug where the setting can be changed to the patient's home.

Care in a Healthcare Setting: Seventy percent of PIDD patients receive treatment in a
hospital or clinic setting (Figure 2). A secondary retrospective analysis utilizing the
Truven Marketscan claims database (2002–2012) evaluated the infection rate associated
with site of care
in PIDD patients [38]. Incidence rates of pneumonia and bronchitis were
calculated for each site of care and regression analyses were conducted to compare age
and gender-adjusted infection rates between sites. The analysis showed home infusion is
associated with significantly lower rates of pneumonia and bronchitis compared to the
office or hospital setting
among PIDD patients. While there are limitations to these types
of analyses, the findings are consistent with studies in other disease areas such as
oncology where it has been demonstrated that home-based therapy reduces the exposure
of immune-compromised patients to pathogens typically associated with hospitals and
other public healthcare facilities [33,73]
