Re-Read Q&A with Mark and Vivek…

Our answers are staring us in the face at the top of this page!

Vivek Dave:how does PrintRite3D stand above the competition -- I think a lot of companies collect data. Our differentiation is what we do with the data, i.e. analytics.

Vivek Dave:Will PrintRite control the weld pool --- right now that is not our plan, but we could see a future growth path as we explore how to better integrate to current and emerging 3D printer and printing technologies

Vivek Dave:Regarding the broad applicability of PrintRite3D --- our only requirement is that we have access to sensor data that is directly related to the quality of the process. This is what is essential for PrintRite3D INSPECT. For DEFORM, we only need a line of sight to the layer that was just printed. SO i feel that both technologies are applicable to lasers, electron beams, and even to arc-welding based printers

Vivek Dave:Regarding closed loop control and GE - I cannot further comment on their specific objectives, but we are trying to make sure that PrintRite3D is a useful tool for on-machine, on-line quality assessment.

Lots of other fun stuff in that Q&A… always good to revisit these things, since it seems to be Sigma's M.O. that just when you forget about a particular connection- BAM- there's a renewed agreement… or contract… or development.

Other quote:

Vivek Dave:Regarding Printer OEMs - we are of course very interested in in aspect because it is very convenient to have the hardware fully integrated at the printer factory. We cannot comment at this time on discussions we may or may not be having.

[Cough… EOS, cough….]

and:

Vivek Dave:Regarding GE and performance of PrintRite3D -- there are always technical risks and competition risks. We are trying to address the technical risks by working with customers like GE through Joint Technology Development Agreements that actively engage their internal technical experts to assure that we create a tool they will actually want to use. regarding competition risks, we try to stay abreast of the latest developments through programs like America Makes.

Vivek Dave:regarding the scope and coverage of patents --- any good IP strategy has at least two fundamental components - patents and trade secrets. Similarly, we employ both. I would never say that any patent is beyond challenge or litigation, but we have made every reasonable effort to ensure that our claims are sufficiently broad to allow us both freedom to operate as well as providing some barriers to entry. That being said, this field is VERY rapidly evolving and unfortunately the Patent Office is very slow. So we have to use a multi-pronged strategy and not just rely on patent alone.
