A deferred jail sentence is what some Courts call a "suspended" sentence. So you're ordered to serve 30 days in jail and placed on supervised probation for 3 years. The jail time is deferred, which means, you don't have to serve it, as long as you follow all the rules of probation. If you don't follow all the rules of probation, you get ordered to serve that 30 days.
