I never made it to Lake Wateree, I didn't know much about what was available.

I remember Lake Murray outside of Columbia as being a really good Largemount fishery. My favorite was Santee-Cooper. It was the best catfishing I've ever experienced, and that's saying something. Here on the Mississippi River, we do pretty well on the cats. Once I figured out to start using the small white bass for bait, the rest was history. I cook a mean filleted catfish. Actually, cut away the shiny belly skin and the dark meat in the lateral line, and it's some of the best eating fish around.
