Typical SEC investigations take years, not days, weeks, or even months. Here is an example of an SEC case. They filed fraud charges against the Company and the insiders on July 18, 2014. The Company was suspended from trading by the SEC in June....2011. It took over THREE YEARS from the date of suspension before the fraud charges were filed. And that is not unusual. Securities fraud cases are complicated and very detailed, which is why it takes so long.
