20 Global Telecom Carriers’ Innovation Strategies to be Presented at TC3 2014

The spirit of invention is alive at TC3, and it’s especially exciting to be able to speak to a group of forward-thinking technologists and innovators who are going to be shaping the future of humankind, said Srini Koushik, CEO of NTT Innovation Institute, Inc. (NTT i3).

The Telecom Council of Silicon Valley today announced 100+ key industry influencers scheduled to present at the upcoming TC3 2014: Telecom Council Carrier Connections Summit. The 7th annual Summit, held October 1st - 2nd in Mountain View, California, collects over 500 industry executives to discuss innovation adoption with global telcos and top-tier vendors, review 50 new disruptive technologies, award 7 outstanding startups, leverage hundreds of prescheduled 1:1 meetings, and enjoy 2 days of 5-star accommodations. TC3 is supported and sponsored by Huawei, InterDigital, Avaya, Interactions, Hubbl, Edgewater Networks, HP, ItsOn, Neo4j, Innovation Partners, and SnapOne.

Highlighting their strategies, tools, success stories, and innovation targets for 2015, over 20 telcos will take the stage including Srini Koushik the CEO of NTT i3, Luigi Licciardi a Vice President at Telecom Italia, Lisa Gao the GM at China Mobile, Ursula Oesterle the Vice President of Innovation at Swisscom, Egemen Kurdoglu a Senior Director at Avea, Sue Igoe the Head of Business at Telefonica, Anne-Louise Kardas the Emerging Opportunities Manager at Sprint, Fraser Curley EVP of Corporate Strategy at STC, Hitoshi Suzuki in charge of Network Transformation at Telus, Mel Gaceta a Senior Manager for US Cellular, and Mark Sherman the Managing Director of Telstra Ventures.

“The spirit of invention is alive at TC3, and it’s especially exciting to be able to speak to a group of forward-thinking technologists and innovators who are going to be shaping the future of humankind,” said Srini Koushik, CEO of NTT Innovation Institute, Inc. (NTT i3). “As the research and development arm of NTT, we’re developing more than just products to enable new technological inventions--we’re enabling technologists to build ideas today that put people, companies, and technology together naturally and easily. I’m very proud to be able to share ideas with entrepreneurs, developers, and other innovators at TC3.”?

In support of their telco partners, several of the industry’s most influential vendors will present the tools and technologies they’re providing to the innovation community to spur communications advancements. Vendor speakers will include Dr. Che Haiping the SVP and CTO of Carrier Software at Huawei, Bethany Mayer the SVP and GM of Network Functions Virtualization Business at HP, Brett Shockley the SVP and CTO at Avaya, Suzanne Nguyen a Director at Samsung, Lynda Smith the CMO at Twilio, and Judy Little the Senior VP of Sales at Ericsson.

“The rapid growth of rich media apps has caused an explosion in network traffic, requiring carriers to engineer their networks to meet the demand,” said Bethany Mayer, senior vice president and general manager, Network Functions Virtualization Business, HP. “NFV is a game changer, enabling carriers to introduce new services quickly and cost-effectively, and promises to be an important topic at TC3. I look forward to discussing how HP is partnering with the broad telecom ecosystem on the NFV journey to help carriers innovate and get to new revenue streams faster.”

“Huawei helps carriers around the world to accomplish ICT transformation of their business architecture. This transformation is a fusion of CT, IT and Internet in sizes and proportions fit for each carrier’s strategic orientation: whether more conservative - excellent retailer or wholesaler of broadband and cloud services - or more aggressive – an online, on-demand, real-time business and enabler of digital services ecosystems,” says Dr. Che Haiping, SVP and CTO of Carrier Software for Huawei. “The shift to digital, at the scale, heritage and economic importance of telecom industry, raises technological, design, business organization, and financial challenges that can be better addressed by collaborative innovation. In the Digital era, this collaboration happens in open ecosystems where hundreds and thousands of participants focus on building more economic and social value through recombinant innovations. In this spirit, Huawei is proud to sponsor this year’s TC3 event and is looking forward to rich interactions with all participants,” Mr. Haiping continues.

“Edgewater Networks is pleased to be a Gold-level sponsor at the TC3 Summit again this year,” said Dave Norman, CEO at Edgewater Networks. “In our spotlight presentation, we will draw on our extensive experience in working with service providers on IP Communications like SIP Trunking and Hosted PBX to show a path to Managed Services revenue for them in the SMB market.”
