NioCorp Developments Ltd., the Vancouver-based firm that has designs on building an underground niobium mine in southeast Nebraska, recently said ongoing testing of drilling samples collected at its site near Elk Creek confirmed there is indeed plenty of the mineral locked hundreds of meters below rural farmland.
Peter Dickie, president of NioCorp, said the company is “extremely pleased” with the most current results, which are “directly in line with our expectations.”
Analysts familiar with the company say the testing validates what was previously discovered or assumed about mineral concentrations in the area.
Niobium is used in a variety of applications including high-tech devices like smartphones, electric cars, and various forms of steel used by the defense industry.
