Thanks for the post (on multiple levels). Intel has still indicated that Broxton is "mid-2015" for silicon availability to partners, so to me this suggests Q3 2015.

Looks more towards the end of 2015 to me in contrast to Cherry Trail, 1 year difference between CHT and Broxton is a more realistic target.


Intel 22nm SRAM was 0.092um^2, and 14nm is a >2x shrink implying that it's <= 0.046um^2.

I don't think Samsung's "14nm" is any more a "real" 14nm than TSMC's is because they are also carrying over the same 20nm BEOL but tightened the FEOL which is exactly what TSMC did with 16 FF, too (TSMC SRAM cell is 0.07um^2 I believe).



Samsung/GF claims to reduce the size by 15% with their 14nm FF process. It's not big but at least better than what TSMC does with their 16FF.
