Yes it has been around a long time. And Jeff Immelt has been around a long time, and he has been a total failure. He has completely failed the shareholders, IMO, as the share price of GE is considerably less than half of where it traded back in 2000, and approx. 40% below the share price of GE when Immelt took over from Jack Welch. The S&P 500 hit an all-time high last week, yet GE is still trading at a share price of $15 (38%) below where it traded in 2007 prior to the recession and market fall.

Shareholders have literally been beaten up under Immelt's failed leadership over the past 13 years. I really hate to say it, but if Immelt stays, I am inclined to agree with the shareholder who proposed that the company be sold off in parts to the greater benefit of the shareholders. We have suffered long enough under the current CEO's failed leadership.
