It is Over.

Go to google maps and put in their address
1420 240th Street
Harbor City, CA

View the photos and zoom in and you will see an old picture in which you can make out the Balqon trucks sitting alongside the building in the parking lot.

Then go to street view.....a newer picture and the trucks are gone....AND there is a "Space Available" sign in front of the building. Balqon sign over the door, Available sign in the yard.

Call the number on the Available sign and ask them about the property. The story they will tell you is not a good one.

As late as last summer/fall Samra would answer my texts. Now...nothing....

This thing is DONE.

This is overdue for a leg up should things be turning around which would mean they have been able to secure capital. Any semi positive pr and this should react. Could be time to think about re-entering.

Certainly a strange situation.

Last communication from them was their report that came out in late 2014. Nothing since.

Some roundabout inquiries I've made suggest they might technically still be in business. There have not, after all, been any announcements of chapter 7s or 11s. And I do not believe they are required to report their earnings.

But they get roundly criticized on some EV DIY sites for being completely unresponsive to emails. I don't even think the advertised phone number is connected.

Very odd.

Probably tanked but who knows?

Very true statement.

Two things that I love they did...
1. Pivot away from the capital intensive trucks and into the residential/small business storage industry....which is on fire right now in California.
2. Adjust their selling model to be direct ordering.

Clearly these actions have borne fruit.

As you point out they are very debt-heavy. The question is can they satisfy the creditors long enough to become truly viable without creditors putting the hammer down.

You should talk to Balwinder Samra. Just send an email through their site, tell him you are an investor and would like to talk to him. He called me two days later and we spoke for two hours.

He is optimistic about being able to maintain their revenue trajectory. He does however, believe that they need either a large order or a cash infusion to really take off.

If you look at the Cali landscape, big money is being invested in companies that provide solar storage. There are at least two companies who have capital backing to allow buyers to finance their purchases.

I look forward to Balqon taking advantage of this kind of situation and/or to get some state/federal grant money.

I was able to talk to Samra also...answered my email in a day and we talked on the phone for almost two hours.

Seems like they are in a decent place:
making money - the combination of their pivot to energy storage, and their on-line store, and the cost of their lithium iron phos batteries compared to others, and the Cali subsidies...all these are the cause of their good quarter.

He does feel like they've finally turned the corner after spending so many years struggling and as he put it 'always resisting the urge to accept toxic funding'

Be really interesting to see how they do the next several quarters and if new funding comes in they will really have a chance to grow this into something substantial

I agreed this quarter they are doing much better than ever. However they much find a way to obtain more fund for working capital. Due to lack of fund they are slowly fulfill their backlog order...
If they receive more funding them they might have a good change to come out ahead.

if you read the last several quarters this company keeps doing better and better. Last quarter was down to 1 cent loss per share which is best ever. Keep an eye on next Q because if they become profitable 2015 could be their year. It's crazy how quite this company stays. I drove by their office last month and spoke to their CEO because I invested a lot in 2008. dammit. haha. So, it was the first time I left in a long time I felt like there is a legit chance to get funded. There is so much money in this space and the tech is moving fast so if they improve the range on their trucks even 25% on a charge I think they take off.

How about Balqon Run by Tesla? This company with some backing like that would be a game changer.

Everybody likes to have money coming in easy. ICEquity - those Frito-Lay electric trucks you referred to in Post 17 were, as reported, supplied by Smith Electric http://www.smithelectric.com

I have long thought that Balqon and Smith might combine quite nicely sometime in the future. Smith Electric is about to be listed on Nasdaq - announcement expected any day now (revised S-1 Filing lodged with SEC on April 4, and company apparently keen to go for ipo as soon as SEC give the nod). Smith ticker will be SMTH and I started a thread here earlier in readiness.

A Balqon-Smith combination would offer an awesome range of EV products, making it harder for subsequent newcomers to take market share away from them. Both offer well-proven trucks and both are singing from the same hymn-sheet in explaining the logic of using battery power in the specific markets they address.

I'm looking at BLQN's stock from the standpoint that there are millions of diesel trucks out there that are not only "gross polluters", but the cost to operate and maintain one has gone up with rising petroleum costs.

Living in a metropolitan area, you sit in traffic next to these trucks every day and the exhaust coming off one of the diesel rigs will make you feel ill. I'd much rather see a Balqon truck next to me, knowing that at the end of their shift, they are going to plug it in to recharge.

This company has a 5 mil on the balance sheet, a tight float, and no shareholder base! If it gets the smallest amount of PR push it will skyrocket!

HARBOR CITY, Calif., Jan. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Balqon Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: BLQN), a developer and manufacturer of zero-emissions heavy-duty electric vehicles, lithium battery energy storage products and electric drive systems, announced at the VERDEXCHANGE Conference, a global event for accessing the California and Western states clean and green marketplace, that it had received an order from Winston Global Energy, headquartered in Shenzhen China, for 300 electric drive systems at a purchase price of approximately $53,000 per unit. Winston Global Energy will integrate Balqon's electric drive systems into a fleet of buses ranging in size from 15 to 40 passenger capacity and market them to local private and government fleet operators in China. Balqon expects that the $15.9 million order will create approximately 150 jobs in Los Angeles County during the next 18 months.

Balqon anticipates that it will begin production of the 300 electric drive systems in mid-2011 at its headquarters in Harbor City, California and plans to begin hiring new employees within the next month. A majority of the 150 jobs expected to be created will be direct labor for the fabrication and assembly of the electric drive systems and the remaining jobs will be in the engineering and research and development fields.
