The Next Phase in Renewable Energy
Affordable rooftop wind power is now available for your building. Today, wind energy is used to generate electricity that powers millions of American homes and businesses. Wind power is also widely recognized as one of most desirable and fastest-growing sources of clean and renewable energy. Until now however, the growth of wind power that we truly need to meet our growing energy demands has been limited by the cost prohibitive nature of current solutions.
The team at Building Turbines realized the need for a reliable rooftop wind turbine that effectively dealt with the structural and mechanical issues and provided the customer a unique, innovative, and compelling way to make clean renewable power on-site. We recognize America's need to move forward with deployment of wind energy solutions that help us all reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and preserve the environment.
More on Building Turbines, and how we are enabling rapid, wide scale deployment of onsite wind power:
Building Turbines, Inc. is an Austin, Texas based development stage renewable energy corporation focusing on designing and manufacturing revolutionary rooftop mounted wind turbines. The innovative and patented BTI's design is ideal for commercial applications and creates reliable, cost-effective, clean and on-site renewable electricity.

BTI's horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT) easily mount onto commercial buildings with flat roofs. The uni-directional design rests on HVAC-style curbs and is mounted along the roof's edge next to the parapet wall. There are fully operational turbines installed on the Building Turbines' headquarters building in Austin, Texas.

The turbine takes full advantage of what is called a 'parapet vortex' which naturally occurs as wind accelerates up the side of a building and crests over the roof top edge. The turbine's axle rod is centered in this vortex capturing maximum electrical power generation capability from the wind.

In July of 2013 Building Turbines, Inc. announced the formation of a new subsidiary, Green City Planet.
As stated in the related press release by John Graham, CEO, Building Turbines:
"The formation of Green City Planet, and other planned divisions, are an excellent example of implementing our vision of vertically, and/or horizontally integrating all technologies and aspects of renewable energy into a one stop shop for a total Green Energy Solution, for any urban environment."
Building Turbines has already been active in the LED Lighting market prior to this announcement, as noted in recent press releases. You may visit this page or the BTI News Room for future updates.
Solar power, specifically photovoltaic (PV) panels have been a mainstay in commercial rooftop renewable energy solutions for many years.
With the booming interest in on-site wind power, Building Turbines, Inc. developed a rooftop wind turbine solution that perfectly integrates with solar installations.
By using just a small footprint along the prevailing wind edge of a given building for each turbine, the remaining rooftop area is preserved for solar capacity.
Benefits from Combined Wind and Solar
The combination of solar and wind power offers a powerful renewable energy solution. Both solar and wind are intermittent sources of energy. Solar power is effective during predictable periods of time throughout the day. Wind turbines can produce energy at any time of day or night. Savings from shared electrical components and installation costs can be substantial.
Additionally, solar power may be extended around the perimeter area of a facility. Solar carports as pictured below are just one example. This installation is currently pending for Building Turbines HQ in Austin, TX.
Building Turbines and Green City Planet are currently in the process of forming strategic alliances with solar providers to enable cost effective solutions for solar and wind installations. As noted above, with a combined solar and wind power installation, the overall cost of both can be greatly reduced.
