The RUBICON™

Dominovas Energy provides global energy solutions utilizing cutting-edge science and engineering to produce the proprietary fuel cell system, the RUBICON™. Its multi-megawatt deployment of clean, efficient electricity is revolutionary.

First, the RUBICON™ SOFC is fuel-flexible, specific to the variability and number of fuels that can be incorporated into its operation. The integration of the proprietary reformer with the RUBICON™ SOFC stack is engineered in such a way that the RUBICON will reform almost any hydrocarbon fuel to a suitable syngas composition (a mixture of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, methane etc.) for optimal SOFC stack electricity generation.

With this flexibility, the RUBICON™ SOFC can operate continuously on these fuels giving Dominovas Energy Corp the ability to exploit a wider range of deployment opportunities, taking into account that fuel sources and availability vary from climate, to location, from country to country and even from continent to continent.

Secondly, a significant advantage of the RUBICON™ is its efficiency gain over the conventional power plants without combustion but with maximizing a thermal process. The RUBICON™ directly converts the chemical energy of a fuel into electricity using state-of-the-art SOFC stacks. The conventional approach to power production by means of a steam/gas turbine generator plant is inefficient, as it requires a three step process to convert the fuel to electricity: One, the conversion of a fuel’s energy from chemical state to thermal state; two a mechanical state and three; conversion to electricity.

Particularly, the thermal and mechanical steps incur significant efficiency loss within steam/gas turbine plants. One significant advantage of the RUBICON™ is its embedded state-of–the-art SOFC stack, which allows for significant percentages of higher electrical efficiency (~ 60 %).

The net result is the RUBICON™ will produce more units of power per unit of fuel consumed than any combustion-based electricity production process. As a “non-combustion” electricity producer, the RUBICON™ emits markedly less green-house-gas pollutants per unit of power produced. Producing mostly heat and water, the RUBICON™ is a sustainable solution to the energy-mix!

Thirdly, our modular approach to distributed power generation allows Dominovas Energy Corporation to meet our clients’ demand at both megawatt and multi-MW levels. Through Distributed Energy Power Systems (DEPS), Dominovas Energy Corporation is able to place the power generation in immediate proximity to the end-user, thus avoiding the high cost of infrastructure, transmission line maintenance, transformer and transfer station vandalism and sabotage, unrecoverable transmission degradation resulting in costly losses and reliance on outdated and inefficient grid systems.

Fourthly, the RUBICON™ SOFC provides the flexibility of cogeneration, i.e. simultaneous generation of power and useful heat. The RUBICON™ SOFC emits useful heat from the SOFC stacks. Depending upon our clients’ needs and process specifics, the rejected heat from the RUBICON™ SOFC can be utilized further for space heating or to generate hot water, steam or additional electricity, which allows us – 85%) of the RUBICON™ SOFC significantly.

With the addition of the Currentergy™ Division, Dominovas Energy diversifies its portfolio of energy solutions into multi-megawatt hydropower generation applications to broaden its revenue generating opportunities in the renewable energy sphere. Dominovas Energy prides itself on being a responsible “Energy Solutions Provider.” It also realizes that only innovative technologically advanced energy solutions will support the overall economic development and rapidly expanding growth of many developing economies, particularly in Africa and Latin America.

Dominovas Energy entered the world of electricity generation by way of its proprietary fuel cell technology, the RUBICON™. However, Dominovas Energy’s leadership understands the world’s electricity needs cannot be limited to a single source opportunity. While Dominovas Energy established itself in the market under the technical leadership of Dr. Shamiul Islam, Executive Vice President for Fuel Cell Operations, the Company now expands its core capabilities to hydroelectric power generation. In recognizing the significant advantages for diversification in its product offering, Dominovas Energy’s Currentergy™ Division focuses on the deployment of hydroelectric power generation solutions.

Through extensive travels and experiences throughout the world and specifically in Africa, Dominovas Energy has identified an abundance of natural resources within developed countries and frontier markets that are underutilized and can be responsibly harnessed to create clean sources of power generation. After careful and thorough analysis, the Company realizes that the vast resource for hydropower potential in developing economies and frontier markets must be responsibly utilized, to usher in a new paradigm of energy security. Given that hydropower produces 75% of the world’s renewable energy output, Dominovas Energy strategically decided that hydropower is a necessity for its renewable energy offerings, as it supports the Company’s mantra to become the leading energy solutions company, dedicated to delivering clean, efficient, and reliable electricity on a multi-megawatt scale to areas of the world that lack this precious and necessary commodity. Currentergy™ is a venerable strategic division and embodies Dominovas Energy’s steadfast dedication to bolster the Company’s renewable energy portfolio, as a whole.

As an energy solutions company, Dominovas Energy realizes the conservation and responsible utilization of natural resources is paramount to its corporate and social responsibility. Creating a large dam for the production of electricity can be environmentally obtrusive to local communities and wildlife; instead, the option to use multiple innovative hydropower solutions which is significantly less impactful environmentally for those who rely so much on these water resources for their basic needs and survival. Currentergy™ seeks to maintain the harmony inhabitants have with water and their natural environment, to responsibly deploy its innovative, technologically advanced hydropower solutions – and thus becoming the cornerstone of what has evolved into a global push towards a sustainable renewable energy future.

Currentergy™ is poised to deliver its proprietary ORCAS™ (Ocean River Current Access Solutions) system, which is platformed upon the most advanced eco-friendly and effective hydro technologies available today in creating sustainable power generation. The ORCAS™ system enables both on- and off-grid clean energy and micro-grid flexibility for the generation of electricity from river and ocean-based power generating systems, with minimal impact to the environment and natural resources. As a strategic partner and leading global technology supplier, Currentergy™ has agreed to collaborate with Andritz Hydro. Andritz has over 175 years of experience in the deployment, service, refurbishment and rehabilitation of hydropower energy projects.

ORCAS™ Solution

The Currentergy™ vision embraces a sustainable future that enables expansion of green power to an ever-expanding network of new and emerging energy users throughout the world. The Company’s experience has shown that newly electrified regions realize the highest economic growth on the planet. Currentergy™ fosters agile river and ocean-based hydropower technology, cultivating and supporting economic vitality and social stability for sustained growth in emerging economies worldwide.

The ORCAS™ system can also be deployed as a “Run of River” (ROR) solution to generate electricity. In ROR systems, running water is diverted from a river and guided down a channel, or penstock, which leads to a generating house. Within this generating house, the force of the moving water spins a turbine, which then drives a generator. Used water is fed back into the main river further downstream. It is important to note that the difference between run-of-river and large, conventional storage hydro is the absence of a reservoir or dam in the conventional platform. Run-of-River relies on coursing rivers to generate electricity, as opposed to stored water. Apart from the tremendous upfront costs and relatively adverse social and environmental impacts of designing and constructing dams, the ORCAS™ system can be deployed at multiple locations within the natural course of rivers to create multi-megawatt power generation. These deployments will minimize the impact on the environment and the inhabitants whose very survival depends on the natural flow of this precious source for their livelihoods and survival.

Currentergy™ deploys the ORCAS™ system, which is currently the most viable and innovative hydropower generation technology for enabling clean energy and flexibly deployed river and ocean-based power systems. The solution can be deployed using a combination of Compact Hydro Power and Hydraulic Turbine Technology:

  • Compact Hydro for the ORCAS™ system will be based on pre-designed modular components. Compact Hydro offers a single source of supply for the entire electromechanical equipment, as well as workshop-tested units and shorter installation times.
Hydro Turbines for the ORCAS™ system will produce renewable electricity by harnessing the volumes and flow of free-flowing rivers and water resources. The necessity for extensive civil work and dams is dependent on a site’s topography and geology.

Currentergy™ has been keen to remain environmentally friendly and impact free. The vertical and horizontal subsurface turbines do not destroy the ecological balance in the rivers in which they are deployed and are fish-friendly. Additionally, Hydro Turbine installation will generate local jobs during project development, installation, operation and maintenance, and will support a local labor base.

Refurbishments
Currentergy™ realizes that many outdated hydropower plants are inefficient in producing their “true” generation capacity potential. Through the ORCAS™ system, Currentergy™ maximizes the true potential of natural hydro resources. The ever-evolving ORCAS™ system can also be deployed in the refurbishment of outdated and decommissioned hydro plants to boost their efficiency and add additional generation capacities, as well as be deployed to enhance specific components of outdated hydro power plants to maximize their utilization of the precious natural resources.

The refurbishment process includes and is not limited to:

• Inspection
• Diagnosis
• Repair
• Replacement
• Modernization
• Expert support

The ORCAS™ system is deployed utilizing the following technology in collaboration with Andritz Hydro turbines:

Efficiency
To illustrate the efficiency of the ORCAS™, Currentergy™ presents the true power of the ORCAS™ in Figure 1. The ORCAS™ is significantly more efficient (90%) than GenSets (36%), coal-fired plant (33%), Wind Turbine (35%), and Solar (15%). The high efficiency of the ORCAS™ is created as a result of the advanced design of its turbine and the optimal integration of the turbine with other components of ORCAS™, thereof. Additionally, the ORCAS™ relies on the kinetic energy of the water for electricity production and requires no fossil fuel for its operation. Hence, there is no fuel cost for ORCAS™ and the operational cost is lower for the ORCAS™ than the fossil fuel based technologies.

Emissions
The ORCAS™ emits virtually zero emissions and is a significantly more efficient and reliable power-generating technology than competing technologies. This proves to be a great benefit to the Company’s clients, as the operating cost is much lower than the competition, as is the amount of emissions the system creates during systems operations.

Figure 2 illustrates the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions per kWh of produced electricity. As illustrated, the CO2 equivalent emission from the ORCAS™ is 0.005 kg, which is significantly lower than the CO2 equivalent emission from GenSets (0.841kg), Coal-fired Plant (0.941kg), Wind turbine (0.018kg) and Solar (0.031kg) on a per kWh basis. The emissions reduction capacity of the ORCAS™ is unparalleled in the power generation.

Most Recent Letter From Neal Allen, CEO (December 22, 2016)

neal

Dear Shareholders,

In the recent past, we have filed three 8Ks with the Securities and Exchange Commission. These filings occurred on Thursday, 10 November, 2016 and on 17 November, 2016.

The RUBICON™ Showcase unit at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa

In one 8K filing, we detail the Memorandum of Understanding with Egoli Gas to provide the natural gas resources we require for the operation of the RUBICON™.

This is a key development for the Company.

We followed this up with a news release on 21 November, 2016 which expanded on the arrangement. This represents a significant step for our Company with regard to the installation of the RUBICON™ at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. As the RUBICON™ unit operates on natural gas, it is a necessity to have a source for this fuel.

The RUBICON™ will provide 50kW of power for educational, residential and administrative facilities as well as other facilities at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. This power generation facility will be our showcase and model to use

Regarding the RUBICON™, many shareholders have asked for photos of the unit. We are currently putting infrastructure in place for the unit and we will not publish photos at this time, as the photos will make certain trade secrets apparent.

We are committed to providing timely updates to shareholders as we move through this process.

Clean Coal Electrical Power Plant in Madagascar

In the 8K regarding The Letter of Intent (the “LOI”) with the Republic of Madagascar we are engaging in discussions for the purpose of deploying a 650MW clean coal electricity generating plant.

We recently completed a visit with The President of Madagascar, which was detailed in our recent news release. President Hery Rajaonarimampianina is committed to ending the energy shortage in his country and this is a key objective of his. We expect to sign a binding Memorandum of Agreement with the government of Madagascar, that will provide for the installation and operation of a 650MW clean coal electrical power plant.

This plant will allow for the generation, distribution, consumption and sale of energy to and within the country of the Republic of Madagascar.

10MW RUBICON™ Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System in the country of Brazil

In our most recent 8K of 17 November, 2017, Dominovas Energy and Grupo LEROS an Oil and Gas and Energy company based in Brazil, along with Ax Deel Partners, LLC have executed a Memorandum of Understanding for the delivery and installation of a 10MW Showcase of Dominovas Energy’s RUBICON™ Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System in the country of Brazil.

The MoU concerns the joint interests and intent of the companies and Dominovas Energy Corporation, a United States publicly traded Company incorporated in Nevada and with registered offices in Atlanta, Georgia, to mutually work in partnership for the utilization of the RUBICON™ in South America.

I can tell you now tell you that Dominovas Energy was unfortunately not selected for the current round of funding by USTDA, as we published that the Company made a submission to receive grant funds.  The criteria for selections is stringent.  Because Andritz does not have manufacturing facilities in the US, this made it cumbersome to award Dominovas Energy the funds for those projects.  And because the data we have available for a 10kW fuel cell system is based on critical and lengthy testing and not commercial data, we were also not approved for funding on the fuel cell projects.

Importantly, this in no way stops either of these projects, in fact, I hope to be able to speak to new opportunities on both of these fronts in the immediate future.
