Span-America Medical Systems, Inc. manufactures and distributes a variety of therapeutic support surfaces and related products utilizing polyurethane and other foam products for the medical, consumer and industrial markets. It has two segments: medical and custom products. In the medical segment, it manufactures and markets a range of pressure management products, including Geo-Matt, PressureGuard, Geo-Mattress, Span-Aids and Isch-Dish products. It also markets the Risk Manager bedside safety mat, which is manufactured to its specifications by a third-party supplier. In the custom products segment, it manufactures consumer mattress pads and pillows for the retail bedding market and various engineered foam products for the industrial market. Its consumer mattress pads and pillows are marketed by its distributor, Louisville Bedding Company. It sells the industrial product line directly to its customers. In December 2011, it acquired M.C. Healthcare Products Inc.
