"I wasn't expecting many posts here."
too bad, we shall shadow you lol. muhahah!
ALRY comes to mind with that kind of story.
See, this is the thing:
I've been focused lately on "themes" that make these little penny stocks run.
i.e. what's working now #board-10995
and then there is the other side of the story:
WHAT'S OVER NOW like Round-Up Plays, NOBO Lists, CUSIP Changes, Fake Dividend Screw-Up Plays, Regulation SHO Stocks, VOIP Stocks, Evil Frankfurt Naked Stock Short Plays
I am either going to rename this the "It's Over" thread and focus on those kinds of things that are no longer stories that people are buying, or start one somewhere else (I already have a board reserved for this puprose)
It ran on the PR I mentioned, claiming gobs and gobs "of reserves" in wells that were going to be reworked. Folks were giddy, until a few DD'd the actual reserves possible. I suppose some still believe aka diamondiferous et al...
That's a good example. What caused it to run like that one just one day? And why did it end? Or at least, why did the stock price slowly collapse to where it is today?
Is there an all in one post that covers this? I would cross post it here.
SSP was posting that he didn't want to bother to look up some specific stock as an example of a bankrupt stock whose shares were not cancelled.
Well, the post about that could be on one of these threads,
"Q" Watch - Stocks About to Exit Bankruptcy | #board-2356
BANKRUPTCY PLAYS (CHAPTER) | #board-11979
Bankrupt Companies | #board-9452
The thing is, there are a lot of categoies, and there are threads for each of these:
1. reverse mergers completed
2. coming off bankruptcy
3. post reverse split stocks
4. and then there is the outlier -- outrageous news runner stocks that never recover thereafter
Just someone needs to organize it. Like this post:
#msg-22636876
This message board, I was thinking, was maybe a place to catch those "all in one" posts that pretty much cover the situation from beginnign to end to make them easy to find.
I wasn't expecting many posts here.
Here's that Texas oil "company":
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=5655
May 06 was the big run, but I see they've spiked twice since...
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=PGPM&p=D&yr=2&mn=6&dy=0&id=p79679539353
you could always post stock XXXX as X X X X or x-x-x-x or XX4XX or something so it may not come back in search results. just use the same format so people already here could search board.
I think it's interesting, but do thou shalt :)
QBID probably qualifies. as does that Canadian diamond mine stock that I won't type the ticker of here because I want to avoid those nutty people posting here.
I may ask for this thread to be deleted, now that I think about it. One Day pop and drop forever stocks have a lot of nutty people posting about them already... so this was probably a bad idea.
I was trying to set up a quick reference area, but this is not going to work, probably.
Well, today we saw SSCI...but as you imply, sumpin' yet could could happen (shell play).
The biggest one that comes mind right now is that goofy lil oil company right near us... P-something. I came home one mid-afternoon about, oh, a year and a half ago, and saw it up about 500%. I thought, no way...Of course, it ran about 1,200% by EOD...then doubled the next day, ie, another 100% ...
As i recall, their little PR was claiming access to/contracts for more reserves than are known in Texas...
I think they've had some minor flurries since then, but never another "big day."
*********
Ahhh, and of course... QBID: only one big run there, I think. That may have been more than one day, though...
SPEA comes to mind as an excellent example of a stock that ran like mad on one day, but it did not really fade away, did it?
This is why I set this thread up... memories fade. I was going to try and do a synopsis of "The Day That Was" for some of these crazy stocks, before time washes out the memories.
I'm not looking for these to continue. It's hindsight on stocks that flame out quickly.
well i think if it has momo, and the volume is past its 10 day, and it runs 500% or more, it could qualify, it all depends on what your looking for.
Ok, so what criteria do you suggest? I would like to keep it simple.
I was thinking:
500% CLOSING gain
or 1000% INTRADAY gain
with more than $250,000 dollar volume traded.
What do you think?
it all depends on how much volume its had in the past.
Looks like the stock that got all the buzz yesterday doesn't have enough dollar volume to qualify as a real "One Day Wonder" -- I'm not sure that $50,000 of stock trading is a real ODW qualifier. What do you think the hurdle should be? $250,000 woth of stock? Or $1m?
The Pink Sheets has a daily trade report that is sortable report, but apparently, OTCBB wants to charge for a report like theirs. Unless you know of a place to grab an image? iHub's home page was already updated, or I would have looked there.
