it closed in the middle, so it could go either way. it should gap up and if there are buyers line up it will run if not it will drop. Volume has to come in to keep it moving into higher levels.

NPRO has been trading sideways for sometime now but has broken above the upper bollinger band. I'd like to know what some of the more experienced TA people feel about this stock. Do you think that it may move up over the short term or continue the sideway trading for awhile yet? Thanks.

Question: Finding average daily volume.

Would like directions to an easy way to look up average daily volume. You can get if from NASDAQ's web site, but you have to click like three screens per ticker symbol to get it.

I'd like something that shows it in one screen if anyone knows such a place.

I have a system I use to identify potential squeeze plays for the day or a 1-3 day swing. Today it was CHINA, yesterday it was PUMA.

Squeeze basically happens when a stock runs up a bit in a day and then runs even more causing shorts to cover their positions at a loss, but making the longs nice and happy. There is alot too it as far as the ability to read Vol+shortint+timeframe+chart patterns.

Squeeze.. please explain.

I've seen you several times refer to playing a stock on a "squeeze".

That usually refers to my innards when a stock I'm holding starts floating belly side up. I assume there is yet another meaning. :)

Played China on a squeeze this morning entry 9.60's. Will be a fight to stay over $10 but if it can break that resistance it will be a runner.

MSP list really kicked some major butt today. Also added a squeeze play in #michiganstockpicker...PUMA called in channel realtime@ 6.27 ran to hod of 6.82. Potential weekly breakout @ 7.14 break here.

I posted on the website I thought the 10 week cycle low was in on Friday and today seemed to confirm that projection. Also, looking for next major cycle event to be the 20 week top late Nov. 80 week low in Dec-early Jan.

Some poor souls were crying in their beer last Thursday & Friday, but I see this normal retreat as an opportunity to buy into some otherwise expensive tech stocks.

Nice to see how well you pointed it out on this great chart.

MSP watchlist for the week is up. Password/login for the week is posted periodically in #michiganstockpicker on the www.financialchat.com network.

Basically it involves large block traders. A stock that is under $2 only needs to move a dime or so to get a 5-12% return. Many MM's and other large block traders will play this lower priced stocks each day on a scalp basis.

For example, if I were to buy 20k shares of IMNY @ 1.00 while the volume is good and daytraders seem to be jumping on board. The stock then rockets to 1.13 in no time. I will take my 13 cent profit X 20k shares=over 2k made for a quick scalp on an intraday basis.(I think my math was close there.)

Scalping by daytraders is what causes many low priced stocks to get those long shadows on candles pointing up only to close much lower by the eod. or the next day. Time can help manage this, however, if you find a good low priced stock that has the earnings and business to backup a steady uptrend. Case in point SOHU, NTES and some of the other overpriced asians were all under $3 before the Gulf War this last year.

MCZ look:

Here is a quick chart look on a weekly 3 year basis. Sometimes the best place to find S/R is to extend the timeframe a bit when doing T/A. Next big resistance according to the chart looks arond 1.40's area. If it breaks that then you could have yourself a $2 stock in no time. The key will be that area as it dips and pops its way there in the coming weeks. MCZ has been a hot topic on the stock boards, but is subject to scalping like any other penny type.

Newbie, here trying to learn about trading.
Been watching it ~.97 and is now at 1.22. Just now trying to read my first O'neil book and was wondering if the chart is a cup and handle i've been reading about, with a double bottom or am I all wet? Anyway, it's rocketing. Couldn't buy it at .97
cuz I ran out of cash and didn't sell my stocks like O'neil says to do(old bad habits are hard to break!!). So I had to inject some more cash by wire, but too late. Anyway, bot at 1.22
finally, and surprise, it went higher!!

Q's max pain around 33.60 should see some support. If it breaks that, then could be a bigger selloff in the works.

MSFT earnings:

Down a few dollars in after hours. Futs are ugly. Another down opening it looks like tomorrow. Fed pumped money in today that propped the market drop in the morning back up. 10 week low looks like it will hit right on target tomorrow.

went to 18.70 and then fell back hard. Was stopped out with a minimal gain of +.30 on only 1k shares.
