Ecosphere is driving clean water innovation with its patented Ozonix® advanced oxidation technologies and its mobile, low maintenance water treatment systems. Ecosphere’s patented Ozonix® Technology is a high volume, advanced oxidation process designed to kill bacteria and control biofilms that are responsible for microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC) in industrial processes around the world. The Ozonix® Technology allows customers to recycle their water for re-use and reduces the costs associated with wastewater transport and disposal.
Ecosphere has been a water industry innovator since 1998 when the company’s founders began developing eco-friendly technologies to solve major water remediation challenges on land and at sea. As a result, Ecosphere Technologies has an extensive portfolio of patents and trademarks that have been filed and approved in various locations around the world. The majority of its green technologies focus on the cavitating properties of water and eliminating the wide-spread use of toxic liquid chemicals through technologies like its patented, Ozonix® technology. This extensive portfolio of patented, clean technologies can be purchased and/ or licensed for use in large-scale and sustainable applications across industries, nations and ecosystems.
Management Team
Dennis E. McGuire - Chairman and CEO
Mr. McGuire is the founder of Ecosphere Technologies and the chief inventor of our intellectual property. Mr. McGuire currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Ecosphere Technologies, Inc. During the years 2005-2008, Mr. McGuire served in various roles as President, Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. McGuire became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ecosphere in March 2013.
Mr. McGuire guides the development of innovative clean water processes and technologies, drawing on his two decades of research and development with the cavitating energy properties of water and using energy in water for environmental water treatment applications. Mr. McGuire has earned global recognition for his accomplishments that are now represented by numerous patents and patent pending rights in the major markets the Company's technologies serve globally. Since 2008 Mr. McGuire has received on behalf of Ecosphere Technologies 5 U.S. patents from the U.S Patent Office for the Ecosphere Ozonix® technology. These important patents were approved under the Green Tech Fast Track program the U.S. Patent Office initiated for environmental technologies to move more rapidly in to industry. In total, Mr. McGuire has received more than 35 U.S. and International patents on behalf of the Company since 1998.
Mr. McGuire has been instrumental in forming eco-alliances with Carnival Cruise Lines, the Shaw Group, Pierce Manufacturing, BAE Systems, Williams, Newfield Exploration, BP, and Southwestern Energy. Mr. McGuire pioneered the concept of recycling frac flowback water "at the well site" in the oil and natural gas industry using high volume mobile water treatment units that reduce CO2 emissions and hauling and disposal costs for energy companies.
David Brooks - Chief Financial Officer
David Brooks was appointed Chief Financial Officer on February 5, 2013. Since June 6, 2012, Mr. Brooks has served as the Chief Financial Officer of SKM Media Corp., a data and services marketing company. Since November 2009, Mr. Brooks has been the Managing Shareholder of D. Brooks and Associates CPAs, P.A., which provides Chief Financial Officer and related services to businesses on a consulting basis. From August 2008 through October 2009, Mr. Brooks was an audit director and consultant for McGladrey & Pullen, LLP (now McGladrey LLP), a large assurance, tax and consulting services company. Mr. Brooks is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida.
Michael R. "Mickey" Donn, Sr. - Chief Operating Officer and Director
Michael Donn, Sr. was appointed a director in March 2005 and was appointed our Chief Operating Officer on March 27, 2008. Mr. Donn has held a number of senior executive positions with us since January 2000. As part of his duties, Mr. Donn set up and coordinated our relief effort in Waveland, Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Donn was the Project Manager for Ecosphere’s EPA Verification testing of its Water Filtration System. From November 2006 until January 29, 2010, Mr. Donn was a director of GelTech Solutions, Inc. From 1994 to 2000, he served as President of the Miami-Dade County Fire Fighters Association, a 1,700-member employee association for which he previously served as Vice President and Treasurer beginning in 1982. His responsibilities included negotiating, lobbying at the local, state and national levels, head of the business operations for the Association, and Chairman of the Insurance Trust.
George Chapas - Director of New Business Development
George Chapas was appointed Director of New Business Development in January of 2010. Mr. Chapas is responsible for sales and business development to introduce and market the Company's patented Ecosphere Ozonix® technology into a multitude of industrial and municipal wastewater treatment applications. Mr. Chapas is a water industry veteran with more than 25 years experience in water filtration systems and processes. That experience, the relationships he's formed, and knowledge of a wide range of water treatment industries provides a valuable asset to Ecosphere as we develop the strategy to build out the various wastewater treatment industries and applications our technology can be applied to including but not limited to agriculture, food and beverage, industrial, mining, marine and municipal sewage water treatment.
Mr. Chapas' most recent position prior to working for Ecosphere was Vice President of Sales for the Thermo Energy / Castion Corporation and formerly worked as General Manager for RGF Environmental and the Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Thermo Electron.
Jacqueline McGuire - Senior Vice President of Administration and Corporate Secretary
Jacqueline McGuire has served as a Company officer since April 1998. Since January 2001, she has served the Company as Senior V. P. of Administration. Her responsibilities have included recruiting and supervising all administrative staff, as well as coordinating all company travel and costs, reviewing all expense reporting and managing administrative contract office equipment services. Additionally, her duties include coordination of the Company equity transactions and maintenance of the Company shareholder records and Board of Directors communications and meetings. Ms. McGuire formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Amclean Inc., an ultra-high-pressure coatings and removal contractor, from 1992 until 1997. Her duties included extensive travel to Europe to negotiate with equipment manufacturers on pricing, delivery and terms.
