The Fed speaks tomorrow morning at 7am. If Bernanke says the Fed will raise rates, the Dollar will gain strength and the British Pound should follow. The GBP/JPY and the USD/JPY longs should do well if the Fed hints at raising rates soon.

I just started up again using PBoxer with the ITM system.

After one week, I made about 6% profit for the first week, and GBP/JPN was certainly my big winner.

Since my ITM closed everything out yesterday, I started a whole new set of trades this morning. One closed in the money at B/E, and currently 5 trades are open with a current Pro/Loss of -67.00.

I know I am late on replying to this, but there are a number of factors that can cause an open trade to become a loss.

1. News.

A great deal of Forex is tied to the news cycle of countries. The US has a number of reports that affect the strength of the Dollar... unemployment, CPI/PPI, Fed int rates, FED meetings, etc...

Remember... right now, the US Dollar is the reserve currency of the world. It affects most, if not all other currencies to one point or another.

2. Swaps

Currency trading between central banks entials a system known as 'swaps'.

A currency swap (or cross currency swap) is a foreign exchange agreement between two parties to exchange a given amount of one currency for another and, after a specified period of time, to give back the original amounts swapped.

These are in a sense, 'hedges' between banks to cut the risk of loaning or selling currencies such as Treasuries to entities or countries. There is a time limit on when the principals and interest (swaps) are to be paid, and that affects the worldwide currency markets daily, weekly, or monthly.

3. Commodities

Oil, gold, etc..., along with natural and man-made events can change currencies in a moments notice. Even though the Chinese Huan isnt a floated currency for trading, the earthquakes that have been occurring there will affect the value and strength of their currency... especially if their central bank needs to 'print money' (causing inflation without an interest rate raise) to be able to pay for short term catastrophie aid.

Right now for example, in the last 4 months, the Fed has issued (lent) to banks 16% of the total amount of US Dollars printed and used in the world. In essence, without raising or lowering int rates, they have inflated the US Dollar 16%... this causes the value daily to rise or fall against other currencies.

So much happens in the course of a day with Central Banks, News, events, etc... that can swing a trade up or down at a moments notice. But like the stock markets, the law of averages... which PBoxer is based on, will normally ential much more wins than losses because even currencies are governed by the laws of support and resistance.

Dollar slumps to new record low versus euro By MATT MOORE, AP Business Writer

FRANKFURT, Germany - The euro roared to another record high Tuesday, crossing $1.60 in late afternoon trading in Europe after a pair of ECB governors said high inflation may cause the bank to raise interest rates.

The euro rose as high as $1.6018, more than a penny above the $1.5916 it bought in New York late Monday. The euro has risen 20 cents against the dollar in just five months and 10 cents in just two months.

The 15-nation currency hit its last record of $1.5982 last Thursday. It dropped back on Friday after a Wall Street rally generated optimism that the worst of the U.S. credit crunch may be over, but rose again on Monday when Bank of America's first-quarter earnings fell short of expectations.

The dollar's slump is a boon for U.S. companies that rely heavily on exports, but it's the bane of travelers as worldwide inflation rises, air fares climb and prices rise in dollar terms for everything from beer in Munich to fine wine in Paris to gondola rides in Venice.

Tuesday's remarks by Yves Mersch in the Financial Times Deutschland and comments made by Christian Noyer to France's RTL radio showed the governing council of the ECB is committed get euro zone inflation back around 2 percent, below the current 3.6 percent it is at now.

It effectively threw water on any hopes of a rate cut by the bank, which has kept its benchmark rate unchanged at 4 percent since June even as the U.S. Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Canada have consistently lowered their own rates.

On Tuesday, the Bank of Canada slashed its interest rate by half a percentage point to 3 percent. It also hinted another cut may be coming as it feels the effects of a slumping economy at its largest trading partner.

The dollar has been weighed down by a combination of gloomy U.S. economic data and high European inflation — fueling expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates yet again, while the European Central Bank will leave rates unchanged.

Lower interest rates can weigh on a nation's currency as traders transfer funds to countries where they can earn better returns, while higher rates are used to curb inflation.

The British pound had been hit by a cautious reception for Monday's announcement by the Bank of England of a 50 billion-pound ($100 billion) plan to allow banks to swap mortgage-backed securities for Treasury bills but it reversed its declines on Tuesday, rising to $1.9994 from $1.9798. The dollar was down against the Japanese currency, dropping to 102.70 yen from 104.17 yen.

The high euro is bound to cause more pain for European manufacturers who export cars, food, wine and other products to the United States because it means prices for their goods are more expensive.

Airbus, a unit of European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company announced a general price increase for its aircraft of an additional $2 million per single-aisle aircraft and $4 million per wide-body long range and A380 family aircraft as of May 1, citing the high euro and the cost for raw materials.

In Germany, automaker BMW AG has said it will start producing more cars in South Carolina in a bid to take advantage of the cheaper dollar. Volkswagen AG has said it is likely to build a new production plant in the United States, too.

The Pipboxer has been amazing since the year started. 25% profit for doing virtually nothing? I'll take it! The Gridboxer up to this point has been volitile to say the least due to all the economic swings. I believe the ITM should benefit the Gridboxer greatly and the Pipboxer just needs to do it's thing =) Keep us informed Pred!

Today i'm currently in the negative with my account. I'm currently running the gridboxer and the pipboxer...

The programs for a few weeks when i started out were running incredible! I was up over 60% at one point, but then i found my account in a downtrend pattern...

I did an analysis of my account and it's trades and it turns out that the gridboxer was the culprit...

Had I used the pipboxer by itself I would be up about 25% right now after a month and a half, but the gridboxer deleted those gains and put me in the negative 30% as of today (lowest I've seen my account is 50%). **But so you guys know i did close some trades which did affect how much profit i could have had, but to be fair i still would have been negative, just not as much**

However, thanks to the guys at Becomeselfmade.com they came up with a solution to the gridboxer, it's called ITM (investatech trade manager i believe), and since then it's been a steady uptrend in the trades from the gridboxer, it really cuts down on the volatility that the program creates...

So now here's what I'm going to do, in another month i'm going to do another analysis of the trades from the gridboxer with the ITM and pipboxer and post my results here for you guys...

But in conclusion, up to this point the pipboxer has been great, the gridboxer has caused huge emotional swings, but the ITM appears to be controlling the volatility so i'll keep you guys posted!
