Legislative, Activist Groups, and Legal Articles on School Bus Safety and the State Budget.
After reading through all of these articles posted today here is a common theme for all. Government EPA wants all kids to ride the bus for several reasons, less road traffic, less emissions, less accidents ( less traffic means less of a chance of an accident with a bus)...for the state it (in the long run) means less road maintenance because of the decreased traffic around the schools -- minimal point but worth mentioning. Add to that mix, less school staff needed to assist car riders, less accidents in school parking lots involving children, less snarled traffic around the school during pick up...if everyone rode the bus here Metro Atlanta we would not have to have a police officer outside every school during pick up!!!! You get the picture.
On the parents side, there is a true concern for safety. More people would be riding buses if the parents felt secure allowing their children to ride and trusting the bus system will protect them. Gaining that trust will solve or assist in a lot of issues, including County School Budgeting. All it takes is 1 accident in each state every 5 years to tear that trust apart. The goal here is to instill trust in the system, get the children on the bus and into the school safely, and solve many other problems/concerns/expenditures as a result.
