Much to the dismay of their customers, Etrade has elected to do away with the old Reuters Market Trader effective 2/22/07. The New Market Trader offers pink sheet level II quotes while the old one didn't. This is probably the only improvement to the platform. They have done away with the left navigation pane window and a bunch of other options. We will use this board to discuss problems or new features, etc. Here is a link to some changes: http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=17266326 ISSUES REPORTED TO ETRADE THAT HAVE YET TO BE RESOLVED: 1. Time and Sales are not accurate - especially with the penny stocks - always seems to lag behind real time. The last sale amount on top never matches what the last t/s is in the t/s box. 2. Order box has a default amount of shares at a certain cost and a default size amount - very dangerous for a penny trader. Also, order box does not clear after a trade is put through. 3. "10 day vol" -not working on all the tickers - specifically pinksheet issues. 4. "sell all" option no longer available 5. "insert" option on the watchlist no longer available 6. Price history is in reverse - the most current should be on the top - there should be a choice for descending or ascending. Also, keeps defaulting to a previous date - if you change the dates in preferences it will keep that date for the day but once you reload MT it defaults back to the old date. 7. Instances of inaccurate quotes. 8. Old Market Trader allowed you to click on the ticker and view the symbol history. If the company changed tickers you were able to see the old symbol and the date of the changed. New Market Trader does not give you this data - it only shows past pr's on the ticker. 9. Old Market Trader allowed you to see the type of sale when you clicked on time and sales. If there were an "X" or a "T" trade you could view it. New Market Trader does not show this. 10. No alerts on the new Market Trader. Old Market Trader would automatically (without having to set up any type of specific alert) show a "V" for volume, "G" for gapped open, "H" for halt, "SR" for short-sale restriction, "X" for ex-dividend, "L" for lock alert, and "A" to indicate if you set an alert. 11. Historical time and sales are not accurate. When you try and access it through the pull-down menu depending on the ticker, you might get the first ten trades of the prior day or you might get the last 20 trades - no rhyme or reason. The old MT gave you the entire accurate prior day time and sales. Even if you try to set the preferences to 1000 it defaults back to 20 on relaunch. 12. Cost basis is inaccurate on many tickers. 13. If you prepare an order in the "Stock Order" box and don't hit "submit", that order will get wiped out if you click on another symbol. Old MT would let you prepare an order for a stock and leave it up there until you were ready to submit. New MT does not let you do this. 14. Market Maker time stamps are not accurate. Often with pinksheet issues market maker time stamps are off and delayed - sometimes by an hour. Maybe Etrade hasn't set their clock to Daylight Savings time? 15. If you change a share quantity and/or price in Portfolio/Watchlist, and then hit Enter, the change does not show. You must hit Save in addition to the other step before the correct numbers appear. If you add/subtract to a position (ie: buy more/sell some) it helps to have the accurate position and ave cost basis showing in the trading platform. To update the position you must double click the box in the Quantity column, change the share count, click enter, double click the Cost Basis box, click enter. In the past (even with this POS platform) the changes would be registered and appear correctly. Now that does not happen until you also click the "Save" link.
